| Belts or levels are not emphasized in the system. However, the real test is knowing the Krav Maga techniques well enough to perform them successfully on the street - when needed. In the classroom, there are 5 levels defined to help the instructors better organize the various techniques and to effectively teach them to all students.
Krav Maga Basic:
This six-month program teaches both Yellow and Orange Belt material as defined by the Krav Maga Worldwide Curriculum guide. Students will learn the fundamentals of strikes, fighting, and self-defense against the most common unarmed street assaults, including chokes, headlocks, and grabs. Students may enter this class at any time and will train under low/moderate stress conditions.
Krav Maga Advanced:
This twelve-month program teaches both Green and Blue Belt material as described under the Krav Maga Worldwide Curriculum Guide. (Krav Maga Basic is a prerequisite) Students will learn to defend against more complex unarmed street assaults, most common armed attacks by a gun, edged weapon, or long range weapons such as a stick, pool cue or baseball bat, and attacks by multiple assailants under moderate to intense stress conditions. Most classes will include a strong physical workout. Students may enter this class upon instructor approval or successful completion of an Orange Belt exam.
Weapons Defense:
Focused training to develop effective tactical defenses against aggressive sticks, knife, and gun attacks. (Open to KM 2 students and above.)
Fight Club:
This fast-paced class allows the student to apply the techniques and principles learned in Krav Maga self defense but in freestyle sparring scenarios. Training in other various styles and systems will be introduced to help the student to become a complete fighter, including the art of grappling while in a ground fight, fighting from the clinch, takedowns, joint locks and submission holds. |
